Fluoroplast-2M (F-2M) has high tensile strength, Brinell hardness (max. 90 MPa), it does not cold flow under load, it has higher flexibility, wear abrasion resistance, UV resistance and radiation resistance. F-2M is a hardly inflammable material. Operating tiperature range is from minus 40 to plus 135oC. F-2M is a cheaper thermoplastic fluoropolymer. F-2M is easily weldable and melt processed by all processing methods used for thermoplastics at relatively low temperatures (from 180 to 240 oC). It is soluble in acetone and in other aprotic solvents that is important for the preparation of varnishes (including those of cold drying) and combined filaments.
F-2M is allowed by Health Ministry for contact with foods.
The properties and applications of F-2M are similar to those of Kynar (e.g. Kynar 5200) made by Elf Atochem Co. (Elf Atofina) and Solef (e.g. Solef-11010) made by Solvay.
F-2M is produced under TU 6-05-1781. Plastpolymer Joint Stock Company produced F-2M granules and some products (films, suspensions, varnishes, tubes etc.).
Applications of F-2M
insulation for wires and cables (including coloured one);
production of tubes, pipelines, containers, protective lining, stop valves and pumps for the industries which work with very pure fluids (electronic, pharmaceutical, chemical industries, medicine);
production of very strong fibers, filaments, non-weaven non-inflammable materials stable to microorganisms and corrosive fluids;
production of films and sheets including reinforced ones for lining;
production of weather resistant protective coating by powder spraying and varnish and suspension coatings.
New Applications of F-2M
In Russia the demand for F-2M increases for protective lining of pumps and stop valves used by water treatment units and heating stations. The advantage of the improved fluoropolymeric protection is evident in pumping liquids containing abrasive particles. It is also corrosion resistant to various oxidizers and UV. Now PVF2 (PVDF) coated roofing materials made in Finland appeared at the Russian market. Finnish producers guarantee 50-year service period for the material.
The number of orders is increased for the production of F-2M-B films and F-2M-D coating by spraying for chemical protection of pump wheels, for small size tanks.
Compared to F-2M fluoroplast-2ME has improved electric properties, colour stability and thermal stability. F-2ME films have piezo electric effect.

Applications of F-2ME
F-2ME is used to produce films with high electric properties, piezo properties, heat shrinkable tubes, suspensions for coating, corrosion resistant filters, fibers etc.
New Applications of F-2ME
Now aqueous dispersion of F-2ME is of high demand, it is used for coating for chemical and biological protection of medical tools (laparoscopes, pincers). The suspension is also used as decorative, protective, anticorrosive coatings, impregnations in construction, chemical industry, aviation, valves and fittings. F-2ME coating are very effective for fixing parts (nails, brackets, push buttons), inner surfaces of pipes and valves of complicated shape, large size chemical equipment.
F-42 has higher UV stability. Its antifriction properties are close to those of F-4 (PTFE). It has good chemical stability to concentrated acids, hydroxides and oxidizers. It is soluble in ketones and esters. F-42 swells insignificantly in 98% nitric acid, hydrofluoric acid, alcohols, chlorinated and aromatic hydrocarbons. F-42 grades have been developed with improved colour and thermal stabilities.
Operating temperature range is from minus 60 to plus 120 oC.
F-42 is produced under GOST 25428-82. Plastpolymer Joint Stock Company produces F-42 granules, films, suspensions and varnishes.
Applications of F-42
preparation of varnish cloths for flexible containers, diaphragms, radiation protection of instruments (f-42-L);
production of fibers for special cloths, gaskets, filters, background for varnish cloths (F-42-B);
manufacture of parts for textile machines, die holders, beakers, plastification canals to produce cord (F-42-LD);
F-42 coating have improved weather and colour stabilities;
F-42 is allowed by Health Ministry for contact with foods, drinking water supply, medical products and as a surface material. F-42-LD is used for dies for macaroni production, tap bellows in contact with wine, beer. F-42 films are used for dry milk products for babies, for foods with higher grease content.
New Applications of F-42
F-42-LD is used for seats and ball valves for oil and gas industry. F-42L is used for paints for external painting of war machine bodies and airplanes.
F-62 is a new extrusion flexible fluorocarbon polymer, it has been developed to replace F-26 which is not produced. F-62 is well melt processable, it has high flexible properties. Operating temperature range is from minus 55 to plus 120 oC. The basic properties of F-62 are not lower than those of foreign grades and its chemical resistance is 2-3 times higher than that of the polymers of its class. F-62 is produced of two grades with different flexibilities and tensile strengths.

Advantages of F-62 in Comparison with F-26.
F-62 is melt processed while F-26 is solution processed.
It allows to extend mix of products;
to overcome film thickness limitation (160 mkm);
to exclude inflammable and toxic solvents;
to improve thermal stability and to extend the application period of F-62 products.
New fluoroplast-62 is a material for insulation with higher flexibility. It is similar to the group of new fluoropolymers of Kynar Flex type (Elf Atofina Co), it is cheaper compared to FEP (Russian F-4MB) and ETFE (Russian F-40).
F-62 films are used to manufacture flexible containers, compensators, membranes for various industries. It can be also to manufacture flexible tubes, sheets, packing elements, fibers, coating F-62 extruded fibers can be used for technical clothes and filtering elements.
